Explaining Water-Soluble CBD & Its Benefits

As one of the many ways to ingest CBD, water-soluble products are becoming a popular choice. With a water-soluble solution, people can take CBD by dissolving droplets in water or a similar liquid. The solution is then either consumed directly or dropped into a beverage, allowing CBD to be dispersed throughout the day without the need for special preparation.

Benefits of Water-Soluble CBD

The benefits of water-soluble CBD supplements are numerous.

First and foremost, it eliminates many of the issues surrounding THC in cannabis concentrate products such as full-extract hash oil (FEEHO). Since cannabinoids are oil-soluble, on its own, full-extract hash oil is actually a suspension of cannabinoids in an organic solvent. This can be problematic because the solvent used to extract cannabis oil may include traces of lead, mercury or other toxins. Also, if the solvent happens to be alcohol, then it’s likely unsafe for human consumption and ingestion. Furthermore, the extracted CBD content is often only 60% pure. To get around this issue with water-soluble CBD products, CBD manufacturers use nanoemulsion technology instead of an extraction process. This essentially means that they use mineral oil to make nanodroplets which are extremely small (1/100th the width of a human hair) allowing them to dissolve completely in water. At Promise Drops, our water-soluble CBD oil is made with VESISORB®, a patented colloidal drop delivery system.

Take Water-Soluble CBD However You Want

Another benefit to water-soluble CBD is that it doesn’t need to be digested. Since the product itself is oil, whether it’s taken as a tincture or dropped into a beverage, it will take effect once the droplets are absorbed in the stomach. This process typically takes around 15 minutes, which makes for much faster uptake than other methods of taking CBD orally.

And, unlike other forms of CBD supplements (such as vaping or taking capsules) people can easily adjust their dose throughout the day by adding more or less water/liquid to their beverage if desired. For example, one could start their morning with a full dropper of CBD oil directly in their coffee; later on, they could consume two droppers in their water or other beverage, allowing them to enjoy higher dosages throughout the day.

Water-Soluble CBD vs. Other Products

To better illustrate the differences between water-soluble CBD and other types of products available on the market, let’s take a look at how it stacks up against both tinctures and capsules.

CBD Tinctures

As mentioned above, water-soluble CBD takes effect much sooner than other forms of ingesting CBD (such as using tinctures). On average, people will start to feel effects within 15 minutes. For comparison purposes, research shows that traditional oral ingestion of cannabinoids through capsules typically takes around an hour before any effects are felt; this is because its bioavailability is 6%.

CBD Capsules

One of the biggest advantages to water-soluble CBD is that it can be more easily measured.

For example, CBD capsules are labeled only in terms of milligrams (mg) and there’s no way of knowing how much CBD you’re actually getting. With a dropper or spoon measurement, however, you’ll know just how many milligrams were dropped into your beverage. These measurements vary depending on who manufactures the product and the type of dropper used. Regardless of dosage size though, the measuring can help people better account for their daily intake and adjust accordingly as needed.

Is Water-Soluble CBD Right for You?

As with any CBD product on the market, it’s up to you to determine the way you want to ingest it and what dosage to use. If you choose to use water-soluble CBD like our Hero Brand product, start with a smaller dosage and use more as needed.

Although not without its downsides (more research is still needed for one), water-soluble CBD supplements are beneficial in several ways. In addition to being faster-acting and easier to measure, the lack of an organic solvent in production may be safer for consumers and easier on the environment. And with nanoemulsion technology advancing to help with the absorption, the future of water-soluble CBD looks bright.
